The brief parable of the hidden treasure is as follows:. Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found, and hid. In his joy, he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field.
The setting here presupposes that someone has buried a treasure and later died. The current owner of the field is unaware of its existence.

The finder, perhaps a farm labourer, is entitled to it, but is unable to conveniently extract it unless he buys the field. This parable is interpreted as illustrating the great value of the Kingdom of Heaven, and thus has a similar theme to the parable of the pearl. John Nolland comments that the good fortune reflected in the "finding" reflects a "special privilege,"  and a source of joy, but also reflects a challenge,  just as the man in the parable gives up all that he has, in order to lay claim to the greater treasure he has found.
The first two of these parables are intended to instruct believers to prefer the Kingdom of heaven to the whole world, and therefore to deny themselves and all the desires of the flesh, that nothing may prevent them from obtaining so valuable a possession. We are greatly in need of such a warning; for we are so captivated by the allurements of the world, that eternal life fades from our view; and in consequence of our carnality, the spiritual graces of God are far from being held by us in the estimation which they deserve.
The hidden nature of the treasure may indicate that the Kingdom of Heaven "is not yet revealed to everyone. However, other interpretations of the parable exist, in which the treasure represents Israel or the Church. In St. Thomas Aquinas' Catena Aurea , he compiles the comments of some of the Church Fathers on this passage,  who point out that like the treasure hidden in the field, the Gospel comes without cost, and is open to all - but to truly possess heavenly riches, one must be willing to give up the world to buy it.

Be unwilling to 'choke the good seed' by the cares and lusts of this life, when it is being scattered for your good. What varying degrees of fruitfulness did the seeds in good soil produce? Think about how fruitful your Christian life has been and how fruitful you want the remainder of it to be.
At first glance, verses seem to say that Jesus is keeping the truth from people by telling hard to understand stories. Is He really? Yes and no. He's not trying to exclude the whole crowd, but is only weeding out those whose lack of interest is betrayed by their refusal to really "hear" and try to understand.
Their response reveals that their hearts are like the hardened path which does not let the Word of God penetrate. So they bring judgment on themselves for their unbelief, as 2 Thessalonians says: "They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Revelation is not obvious to all, but according to verses 11 and 25, it is "given" by God — to those who are receptive to the Word.

What does Jesus say about hiding truth in verses ? Hiding a lamp — referring to Himself or at least His message — would be silly. It's very purpose is to spread light around. Let's reread verses What is Jesus saying about hearing His message? The more you hear and absorb, the more will be spoken to you. The more you reflect on Christ's parables, the more you get out of them.

Those who barely listen will understand little. Folks, this was a seriously impossible situation! So, what does the Man of God do?
He asks for a harpist! Folks, as long as we honor God … nothing is impossible! Are we digging the ditches that God has called us to dig right here, right now? Have we been faithful to that? What ditches is God calling you to dig right now? Can you see the church that God is calling us to be? Remember: Faith believes it before it sees it!
It takes faith to dig ditches … but dig ditches we must!!!! And, folks, one more thing to remember: As long as we honor God … nothing is impossible! Have you got your shovel ready? Are you ready to honor God in that way? Praise God for his faithfulness to us!
